In this introductory class we will explore the fundamentals of making pottery. Centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing will be the core focus, with an emphasis on learning how to create fundamental forms: bowls and cylinders. Other techniques will be learned, such as making mug handles, depending on the interest level of registrants.
PLEASE READ BELOW: PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING. Shorts or jeans and preferably closed toe shoes. Bring a towel, this is mandatory. You may bring an apron if you would like to. Nails MUST BE CUT/TRIMMED before class. Acrylics nails MUST BE REMOVED if they extend past the tip of your finger. 1-2 mm nail length is ideal, but nails cut several mm before tip of finger works too. Hair that is past the shoulders must be tied up to ensure the safety of the student while operating the pottery wheel. Tools are provided but you are welcome to purchase your own if you'd like.
