Who is this Class For?

This class is for anyone who has experience using a standard sewing machine and are interested in learning how to operate a more heavy-duty machine for sewing multiple fabric layers, thick and tougher materials such as leather, denim, canvas or upholstery fabrics.

Learning Objective

• To be able to wind bobbin, correctly insert bobbin and case
• Thread machine correctly with proper tensions
• Adjust for appropriate thread, stitch length, needles, and other attachments
• Back stitch to secure stitching and tie-off
• How to oil machine, engage and stop machine
• Importance of hand-placement. 

You will practice using machine by constructing a phone-charging bag.

Learning Outcome

You will be able to apply skills from this class to work independently in the Textile Lab using this machine.
