This is a hybrid class geared towards beginning and intermediate students. In this class we will explore the fundamentals of making pottery. Centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing will be the core focus, with an emphasis on learning how to create fundamental forms: bowls and cylinders.

Other techniques will be learned, such as making mug depending on the interest level of registrants. Intermediate students will focus on honing their throwing skills and exploring a variety of forms such as jars, composite forms, vases, etc.

MUST READ BELOW: PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING. Shorts or jeans and preferably closed toed shoes. Bring a towel, this is mandatory. You may bring an apron if you would like to. Nails MUST BE CUT/TRIMMED before class. Acrylics nails MUST BE REMOVED if they extend past the time of your finger. 1-2 mm nail length is ideal, but nails cut before tip of finger generally works too. Hair that is past the shoulder must be tied up to ensure the safety of the student while operating the pottery wheel. Tools are provided but you are welcome to purchase your own if you'd like. Tool sets can be purchased at Meininger in Colorado Springs for approximately $16.
